Yoga at Children's Home

We have been involved in teaching Laughter Yoga and Yoga at a children's home in B lue Downs, Western Cape, South Africa. This home, which is called Rosendal Home, is a home and place of safety for abused children and children with drug dependency. The age of the children ranges from 11-17 years and includes boys and girls. There are about 36 children presently at this home (February 2008).

The children are very keen and eager to learn. Although yoga was a foreign concept to them, they ambrassed it whole heartedly and cannot wait for the next weekly session. This was a case of starting with the body (annamaya kosha) and working through to the soul level (anandamaya kosha).

Support Needed The children are in need of yoga mats - presently they do yoga on a blanket on a hard cold concrete floor. Not ideal to be steady and comfortable in postures! It will be a great support to assist in buying a yoga mat for a child. (Average price is R80-100 or $10). Contact us to find out how! A big thank you for those who have contributed already!
